About Your Role

Our Bendigo site is the sole remaining automotive manufacturer in Australia, designing, building and exporting vehicles around the world. Our unique Bushmaster and Hawkei vehicles are designed to protect soldiers from explosions in the field, with over 300 Australian lives saved attributed to the Bushmaster in Afghanistan alone.

We are currently looking for an experienced and passionate Health Safety and Environment (HSE) Manager to join our team. This critical leadership role will provide expert advice, leadership and hands on support leading to sustainable safe work performance, a health and engaged workforce and minimised environmental impacts from operations.

Key deliverables will include nurturing a ‘safety first’ mindset across all levels of the organisation, risk management and team based continuous improvement, improved sustainability and delivering effective HSE systems, tools and processes that enable to our team to work safely.

How About You?

You are a degree qualified and have a strong career in HSE. You have a working knowledge of ‘Enabling Safety’ and ‘Safety Differently’ principles and practices. Your experience covers all facets of HSE, management systems and relevant legislation. You have ideally had experience working in the production, construction, manufacturing or defence industries (high risk businesses).

You are able to interact with people at all levels from shop floor, senior management and external stakeholders. You are someone who can coach and mentor leaders. You have a continuous improvement focus and mindset. You are a leader who is very experienced with complexity and you have proven experience influencing leaders around positive safety culture.
