JOB SUMMARY

This role will be in charge of and manage HR generalist support and the employee relations function for two hotels in the Market structure. This role will also work closely with General Managers in the Market and partner with Area Discipline leaders and the APEC Talent Acquisition team to oversee, strategize, run and manage all talent acquisition for the market.

In addition this role will be required to work with the other Human Resources leaders and support the learning and development function when required. He/she focuses on delivering HR services that meet or exceed the needs of employees and enable business success; as well as ensures compliance with all applicable laws, regulations and operatingcluster while working with the rest of the Human Resources team for oversight of employee relations, core HR, and training and development of two hotels in the cluster. Additionally, he/she focuses on delivering HR services that meet or exceed the needs of employees and enable business success; as well as ensures compliance with all applicable laws, regulations and operating procedures. The candidate will report to the Market Director of Human Resources.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Education and Experience

· High school diploma or GED; 3 years experience in the human resources, management operations, or related professional area.

OR

· 2-year degree from an accredited university in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related major; 1 year experience in the human resources, management operations, or related professional area.

CORE WORK ACTIVITIES FOR TWO HOTELS

· Provide high quality advice on a wide range of common and specialized HR matters, including guidance and coaching for employees and line managers on workplace relations matters such as performance management, misconduct, termination, personal illness, discrimination/harassment and disputes as well as interpreting policies/procedures and employee wellness and health

· Provide exceptional customer service experiences through efficient evaluation, closure and/or escalation of all queries and advice

· Utilizes an âopen doorâ policy to acknowledge employee problems or concerns in a timely manner

· Ensures employee issues are referred to the Department Manager for resolution or escalated to the Market Director of HR

· Be a subject matter expert in award / EA interpretation, Australian employment legislation, updating and creation of HR policies and procedures, and Fair Work requirements.

· Provide metrics reporting and analysis reporting with practical and actionable recommendations.

Performance Management

· Reviews progressive discipline documentation for accuracy and consistency. Checks for supportive documentation and is accountable for determining appropriate action.

· Provide expertise on how management can best lead their teams, set them up for success

· Assist with performance management processes and managing the annual review process

· Conducts investigations as necessary

Workers Comp, OHS, Safety & Security

· Represents Human Resources at the two property Safety Committees; helps to identify ways to create awareness of the importance of safety in the workplace and decrease accident frequency and severity.

· Manages Workers Compensation claims to ensure appropriate employee care and manage costs.

· Partners with property leadership Loss Prevention to conduct employee accident investigations, as necessary.

· Ensures all safety and security policies (e.g., property removal, lost and found items, blood borne pathogens, accident reporting, and hygiene) are communicated to employees on a regular basis through orientation, property meetings, bulletin boards, etc.

Communications & Employee Relations

· Assists in maintaining effective employee communication channels in the property (e.g., develops daily communications and assists with regularly scheduled property-wide meetings).

· Support the associate relations activities for the market hotels â Take Care calendar programs, Associate Appreciation Week, etc

· Represent the company in all Fair Work conciliations and hearings to come to a resolution.

· Advise associates and liaise with external lawyers on immigration issues and coordinating visa and residency applications.

· Leads and Manage the employee recognition program and milestones program

· Manage the heart of back of house communications and areas to ensure on brand

CORE WORK ACTIVITIES FOR THE MARKET

Managing Recruitment and Hiring Process, Talent Bank, Payroll

· Be the recruitment subject matter expert for the market all cluster hotels

· Manage & coordinate the recruitment process for all associates (posting, sourcing, interviewing, assessments, referencing, offer, etc)

· Oversees the selection/non-selection and offers processes to ensure proper procedures are followed (e.g., valid reasons for selection/non-selection and applicants receive status notifications).

· Serves as coach and expert facilitator of selection process and interviewing procedures.

· Partners with properties to analyze open positions to balance the development of existing talent and business needs.

· Develops staffing strategy (in collaboration with hiring manager) relating to hiring practices; consults with hiring manager on compensation, benefits, etc.

· Coordinates with properties to verify that the appropriate sourcing and recruitment strategies are implemented.

· Ensures that managers are competent in evaluating and hiring hourly employees with training and coaching where necessary

· Provide metrics reporting and analysis reporting with practical and actionable recommendations.

· Leads & drives the Human Capital Planning process for the cluster hotels

· Building up a solid External Ready Talent bank and track submissions and improve utilization of the databank.

· Ensures all associates are set up in the payroll & fingerprint systems, and if terminated are removed

· Works closely with the payroll team for any new joiners, changes, transfers, terminations for the market

SUPPORT WORK ACTIVITIES

· Supports the other HR Managersâ job functions where necessary and cover when on leave

· Support the Market Director of HR with employee related projects and initiatives, and day to day tasks
