Job description:
The SEQ business supports the safe and reliable running of the network for South East Queensland, with more than 54 million passenger trips per year and 152 train stations on the network. The SEQ Safety and Risk team manages and maintains the continuous improvement of the Safety and Environment Management System to satisfy legislative requirements for Workplace Health and Safety (WHS), Rail Safety, Electrical Safety, Chain of Responsibility and environment. Queensland Rail is looking for our next Senior Manager of SEQ Safety to lead our SEQ Safety and Risk team.

As Senior Manager SEQ Safety you will be required to strategically lead the team by providing direction and management to achieve strategic and operational business objectives. You will be responsible for formulating and implementing strategies and programs to transform and build Safety Leadership, performance, capability and culture within SEQ.
The Senior Manager SEQ Safety will have the opportunity to play a critical role in delivering safer outcomes for our teams and customers.
What you will deliver as Manager SEQ Safety:

Leadership through the formulation of safety strategy to embed a culture of safety excellence and provide strategic advice on safety initiatives to improve the SEQ safety performance for workers and customers alike.
Pro-actively develop and lead the implementation of SEQ wide safety change management strategies that will drive a safety culture and result in improvement in the safety performance, efficiency and productivity of SEQ.
Develop, coach and mentor the SEQ leadership team and SEQ safety professionals across the business to facilitate safety culture and business performance improvement in safety.
Provide integrated overall operational safety management for the business as a single point of accountability, devolving specific aspects of operational decision making to the most efficient and effective levels.
Lead and coordinate the development of SEQ Safety Plans with alignment to Corporate Risks, ensuring the identification, planning and performance of safety related assurance activities across the business is coordinated and outcomes of assurance activities are reported.
Work closely with stakeholders and other senior leaders to improve operational safety service delivery and ensure these levels are maintained at a high standard.
Proactively lead and manage the SEQ safety teams creating a performance culture that reflects a high level of teamwork and collaboration and builds organisational capability.
