At XY Sense we’ve engineered a new kind of AI-powered sensor to create safer, smarter workplaces.

We’re a Melbourne-headquartered tech startup who recently closed a $A5M seed funding round (backed by Blackbird Ventures) and have just launched our ‘sensor as a service’ platform.

We’ve got big plans to scale this year and we’re looking for a People & Operations Lead to support our growth plans, while helping our people do the best work of their careers.

The Role
Reporting directly to the CEO, the People & Operations Lead defines and implements the people & productivity strategy at XY Sense.

This is a hands-on role which includes overseeing our growing business operations function, owning the full talent lifecycle (recruitment/onboarding/performance) and supporting cross-functional alignment at XY Sense.

Working at the intersection of our teams, you will champion a High Performance Culture at XY Sense and define the ‘ways of working’ which will help us scale and find success as a team and company.

What that looks like on a day-to-day basis*

  • Implementing strategies to align our people resources and operational frameworks to execute on the company strategy.
  • Execution of our full talent life cycle: employee policies, procedures & contracts, recruitment & talent pipelining and onboarding. As well as supporting our people managers with performance management protocols.
  • Defines and nurtures a High Performance Culture at XY Sense (via clear accountability structures, employee training & development, policies & procedures and embedding company values into daily work life).
  • Oversees company performance management and cross-functional alignment. Works alongside teams to devolve company strategy into functional plans, leads ongoing comms and reporting of progress against strategy.
  • Owns company reporting cadence on key metrics across functions. Builds and maintains central data systems and tools.
  • Leads internal company communications > All hands meetings, Wikis, CEO & HR related comms.
  • Oversees supporting business operations functions (either personally or out-sourced), such as Legal, Finance, Office Administration.
  • Provides strategic operations support as well as people & culture guidance to our CEO and people managers at XY Sense.

What you’ll need*

  • 3-5 years experience as a HR partner or operations professional.
  • A relevant degree or HR related qualification (or equivalent practical experience with proof of best practice implementation).
  • A passion for helping people to do their best work. Do you have a special way of connecting with and getting the best out people and teams?
  • Top notch people management skills and a high emotional intelligence; ability to train, oversee, coach, and mentor remotely.
  • Demonstrated experience in operations and project management in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge and experience in employment law, compensation, organisational development, employee relations, and training and development.
  • Experience in recruitment, employer branding and talent pipelining in competitive technology fields.
  • Ability to create and refine internal policy and processes.
  • Demonstrated success in change management with diverse stakeholders.
  • Grit. This role is the perfect COO fast-track for a mid-career Ops or HR manager but it will be hands on.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: $95,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
