Your new company
This government organisation is seeking Lead Investigator to join their team based on the Gold Coast.

Your new role
Will see you undertake the following:

  • Undertake complex investigations into alleged breaches of legislation and the company policies, with a central focus on matters that are considered corrupt conduct.
  • Undertake corrupt conduct assessments against s15 of the Crime and Corruption Act, The PID Act and the Human Rights Act before preparing an Investigation Scope and Plan for peer review.
  • Use best-practice investigative techniques, including gathering evidence promptly, conducting records of interviews, preparing complex Investigation Reports, including the ability to critically analysis and thoroughly demonstrate a discussion of evidence, ability to align findings with recommendations for change.
  • Prepare briefs of evidence for use in disciplinary and/or criminal proceedings (if the matter is required to be briefed to the QPS or AFP).
  • Implement proactive compliance initiatives, including investigations, job site audits, desktop audits, surveillance, and covert activities.
  • Prepare or review complex written advice on matters such as compliance with the Public Interest Disclosure Act and offences against the Public Interest Disclosure Act 2010.
  • Conduct target education campaigns.
  • Assist the wider organisation teams in resolving serious workplace complaints.
  • Contribute to the development of the new enhanced policies and procedures.
  • Ensure productivity by prompting teamwork, mentoring team members and contributing to staff development and training.
  • Serious and systemic misconduct.
  • Professionally engage in Peer Review processes.

What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in the role you will have a proven track record in problem solving, influencing people, adapting approaches and delivering results. You will also have a strong background in investigations (ideally within the public sector) think positively, articulate information and build strong relationships whilst maintaining confidentially.
  • Anticipates, analyses, and manages emerging issues. Develops innovative solutions to complex problems
  • Works independently and manages individual and teamwork deliverables as required. Proactively collaborates with others to achieve results.
  • A strong work ethic and resilience.
  • Proactively builds trust and effectively collaborates and maintains relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders.
  • Displays judgement, initiative and professionalism and encourages these standards in others.
  • Communicates complex information clearly and compellingly for the target audience.
  • At least five years' experience in interpreting and applying relevant legislation, policies, and procedures, including the rules of evidence and industrial-related functions, including an employee's entitlement to natural justice and procedural fairness throughout any workplace investigation.
  • At least five years' experience in the use of contemporary and traditional investigative techniques and methodologies.
