This role is a great opportunity for an experienced People & Culture Leader to join a fast-growing team at a pivotal point in our journey. This role will be based in Brisbane, initially from home until we set up an office, but you will have a lot of flexibility with how often you work at the office or from home.Initially, the role will be part-time, 3 days per week, which may increase as the business grows. Ideally, you will be able to spread the 3 days across the week, but we are open to discuss different working arrangements.

The Role

Working directly with the Managing Director, you’ll have the freedom to put your own stamp on this role with the opportunity to create and develop a P&C strategy that engages a highly talented team in a supportive and friendly environment. 

As we are a small business growing rapidly, we are building a lot of things from scratch and that includes our people function. The opportunity to be part of the foundational work should really excite you as it does us!

You will have a broad remit with a particular focus on talent acquisition strategy, scaling the organisation, and building a solid foundation to support national expansion. Additionally, you’ll be responsible for:

  • Supporting the team as a trusted advisor, providing coaching and advice on all employee relations matters
  • Taking the operational lead on all People projects; how we organise our policies, implementing new HRIS technology, collecting and analysing data of our salary bands, etc.
  • Supporting the leadership team in designing and rolling out individual and team performance plans, compensation frameworks, benefits and more.
  • Identifying and implementing initiatives to enhance culture and engagement
  • Proactively identify problems and opportunities within our People roadmap and develop short- and long-term solutions
  • Developing L&D and training programs
  • Managing cyclical HR activities

What experience are we looking for:

You are a P&C leader who has worked within the constantly changing environment of a growing business. You have an understanding of the complexities of growing a business and you’ll be comfortable with the stresses and pressures of operating across multiple time zones, where decisions have to be made quickly. With an entrepreneurial spirit and intellectual curiosity, you’ll be able to align innovative P&C initiatives with business objectives and be happy to take a “hands-on'' approach. Your ability to work flexibly and get involved on an operational level is crucial to the success of this role. Additionally, you’ll have:

  • 7+ years experience in an HR leadership role, ideally within small growing businesses due to the nuances with the speed at which we work, frequent changes and experience within remote & distributed workforces
  • Experience in growing an HR P&C function to deliver high performance and attract talent
  • Demonstrated experience in developing, reviewing and implementing innovative P&C strategies, initiatives, frameworks and policies to meet operational and strategic business objectives
  • A solid understanding of employment legislation and best practice contemporary HR
  • Experience with modern HRIS technology and be able to draw data insights and turn them into actionable initiatives
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in order to build effective working relationships with all levels of the business
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s level degree in Human Resources or similar discipline
