The Role

Working closely with the BGIS People & Culture Team, the HR Business Partner will play a critical role to represent and influence the BGIS business values, and support Business Leaders to drive success across all aspects of the employee lifecycle.

This is an autonomous role for a passionate HR thought leader who values high touch stakeholder engagement, has an appetite for change and can support the business practically and strategically, across all generalist HR matters, with a growing focus on Industrial Relations.

This role is based in Melbourne, VIC.

Please note that this role will require regular local travel and occasional interstate travel (pending COVID).

  • Deliver strong HR expertise and support across all aspects of the employee lifecycle to multiple stakeholders across VIC and SA
  • Influencing and driving a purpose-led, collaborative and diverse culture.
  • Lead conversations around talent management, succession planning and team engagement
  • Lead and support the improvement on current processes and procedures, update policies, educate and communicate these to managers and other internal stakeholders.
  • Industrial Relations: Maintain IR compliance and provide advice on Award interpretation; Support the business on Employee Relations and Industrial Relations strategy; Use Industrial Relations/workplace legislation to achieve productive outcomes.
  • Provide support on rostering, award compliance, strategic resourcing
  • Support the acquisition and transitions of new accounts
  • Advise management on counselling, grievance and dispute resolution.
  • Maintain a bi-annual performance review process & advise management and employees on performance management reviews for staff
  • Conducting workplace investigations and managing ER matters.
  • Develop and facilitate workshops to drive team cohesion & effectiveness, strengthen culture, build leadership capability and support change/transformation

Skills & Experience

  • Demonstration of HR Business Partnering in complex businesses with exposure to Blue and White Collar workforces.
  • Exposure to Shared Services Delivery models, Services/Contractor based businesses, Mobilisations and Technical industries such as Facilities, Maintenance and Trades, Utilities, Infrastructure or related.
  • Well versed in Employment Law and demonstrated ER Case Law experience, including involvement in Investigations, and FWC Conciliations
  • Tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Business, Employment Law or similar.
  • Ability to lead and drive scalable people initiatives (we are growing!)
  • High level of emotional intelligence with the ability to foster and nurture stakeholder relationships at various levels.
  • Preferable experience in EA negotiation, or been involved in industrial relations strategies
  • Knowledge and experience in contemporary HR practices and strategies.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills, as we as highly developed interpersonal, coaching, negotiation and consultative skills
