The opportunity

We have an exciting new vacancy within our Group Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) team and are looking to appoint a Senior Manager – Risk Culture to develop our approach in bringing cultural and organisational insights to drive better risk management and strategic outcomes for QBE. You will drive and embed our Risk Culture approach and partner with the business in the development of relevant governance, remuneration and accountability frameworks along with the wider HR and Risk teams to help achieve our target risk culture.

This is an exceptional opportunity to at a unique time when we are shaping our future culture, as part of a Board-sponsored future focused culture review. You will play a key part in our cultural evolution as we embed a matured risk culture approach into our target state culture and be the key contact point for our Risk Culture working across other centers of excellence.

As part of 2nd line risk oversight, you will report to the Group Head of ESG Risk and be responsible for the following objectives, through strong ongoing collaboration with Group Risk, Group Conduct, Group HR, and divisional risk teams:

  • Ideation of cultural insights and actions to support the ongoing development of risk culture and risk management practices across the group
  • Primary contact point for Risk Culture partnering, across the enterprise to embed this into everything we do
  • Developing QBE’s approach to manage risk culture and Governance, Culture, Remuneration and Accountability (GCRA) risks
  • Developing frameworks to assess, monitor and report on GCRA risk and risk culture throughout the business, and organising and running assessments
  • Reporting to group management and the board on Risk Culture, including assisting the Group board in meeting QBE Group’s responsibilities under APRA CPS 220
  • Providing SME support to Divisions in their local assessment of GCRA risks and activities to improve risk culture
  • Developing an ongoing training program, targeted at different levels of the business, to support the improvement of risk culture
  • Understanding regulatory and external stakeholder requirements (including but not limited to regulators, rating agencies and shareholders)
  • Meeting deadlines for shareholder requirements (Board reporting, Management reporting and other ad hoc reporting needs)

Your story so far

  • Tertiary qualification in relevant discipline; Human Resources, Organisational Development, Organisational Psychology, or Enterprise Risk Management advantageous
  • You may have a background in HR or Culture more broadly and be interested in extending this experience into Risk Culture
  • Experience in developing and supporting risk culture, or organisational culture more broadly.
  • Experience in risk management or culture n a financial services organisation or within the insurance industry preferred
  • Solid understanding of general insurance advantageous
  • Good understanding of regulatory requirements and trends within the insurance industry or financial services industry in Australia and globally preferred
  • Ability to influence leaders and develop strong collaborative relationships with key stakeholders across the business
