Primary objective:
Provide advice and support on workforce relations matters through a client-focussed enterprise model to Northern

Territory Public Sector agencies.

Context statement:
The role currently available is in the Recruitment team, providing expert advice and support to client agencies in regard to

best practice recruitment and selection solutions, and managing systems to recruit employees in line with legislation and

departmental policy . Workforce Relations has a number of service lines including: Recruitment, Change Management,

Employee Relations, Workers Compensation/Work Health and Safety, Dispute Resolution, Inability, Conduct, Workforce

Relations Support and Performance Management. Note that suitable candidates from this selection process may be

referred to vacancies in other service lines for consideration.

Key duties and responsibilities:
1. Provide support, advice and assistance to clients on a range of Workforce Relations matters including legislative

interpretation and terms and conditions of employment.

2. Manage a range of HR projects and initiatives which support the team in the delivery of best practice Human Resource

services.

3. Research and prepare correspondence and reports on HR matters.

4. Assist the Senior Officers with less complex case management and early intervention advice and services.

Selection criteria:
Essential:
1. Several years’ experience working in Human Resources, with successful experience interpreting and providing advice

on the application of employment legislation and related policies and procedures.

2. Proven ability to maintain positive work relationships with a strong customer focus.

3. The ability to provide early intervention advice and undertake less complex case management, including proven ability

to protect confidential information.

4. Excellent oral and written communication skills, with experience preparing accurate written correspondence.

5. Well-developed organisational and time management skills, with proven success prioritising workloads to achieve

objectives.

6. Demonstrated ability to work independently and within a team environment.

7. Demonstrated work ethic and attitude which emulates DCDD values of being professional, accountable, honest,

respectful and innovative.

Desirable:
1. Knowledge and understanding of the Public Sector Employment and Management Act 1993 and subordinate legislation

or the ability to obtain.
