About us

COVID-19 Quarantine Victoria (CQV) is responsible for Victoria's COVID-19 Accommodation response, including:

  • Mandatory quarantine for returned overseas travellers
  • Emergency Accommodation for people that cannot safely isolate/quarantine in their accommodation.

The Victorian Chief Health Officer has mandated that all returning overseas travellers arriving in Victoria must go into mandatory quarantine for 14 days from the day of their arrival to help prevent the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19).

In addition, CQV is responsible for the operation of Victoria's Emergency Accommodation program for community members and their close contacts who have tested positive for COVID-19 and where an assessment has concluded that there are no other suitable alternative accommodation options for self-isolation.

Infection control and prevention is the primary objective of the mandatory quarantine and emergency accommodation programs.

About the role

We currently have three opportunities to consider. Please review the attached position descriptions to view the key differences in each role;

  • Senior Safety Advisor – Hotel Services
  • Senior Safety Advisor – Frontline Worker Accommodation
  • Senior Safety Advisor – Community Accommodation

As the Senior Safety Advisor, you will be responsible for managing the safety, risk and compliance of a portfolio of locations within CQV. You will ensure each location provides a safe environment for all staff working at the location. You will be responsible for coordinating safety activities and responding to critical incidents as they occur. For this reason, you will establish and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders within government and the non-government sectors that support CQV operations.

About you

As the Senior Safety Advisor, you will possess:

  • demonstrated comprehensive knowledge, understanding and experience in the application of OHS legislation, compliance codes, codes of practice and regulations
  • relevant significant industry experience in occupational health and safety management systems
  • demonstrated experience in the identification of OHS risks and developing, implementing and evaluating preventative strategies
  • demonstrated expertise in consulting with managers and frontline staff in the delivery of key outcomes in health and safety, change management and related workplace improvement initiatives
  • demonstrated experience in delivering cultural change in health, safety and wellbeing. 

The key to success in this position will be the ability of the individual to use their technical knowledge and experience to advise, influence and embed systems and processes, while driving safety performance across the locations within your portfolio.
