Role Details

Gold Fields in Australia is currently seeking an energetic, proactive and dynamic Superintendent: Inclusion and Engagement to join the regional Human Resources team based in the Perth Office.

Reporting to the Unit Manager: Organisational Development & Learning, your role is responsible for developing a regional approach to engagement and communication across the operations. This will include developing a regional strategy for Diversity and Inclusion and the development of creative strategies to increase engagement with all of our employees.

This role is offered on a permanent basis, based on a 5 days on 2 days off roster and is based in Perth. Flexible rosters and working from home arrangements will be considered for the right candidate. There will be a requirement to visit our GFA mine sites on a regular basis.


Key responsibilities will include:

  • Always act in a professional manner that seeks to enhance the safety culture and performance of the organisation and ensures that the Vital Behaviours are adhered to at all times;
  • Developing a regional approach to inclusion and engagement through to 2025, with an initial focus on female and indigenous participation but broadening out to all areas of diversity, in order to increase diversity and inclusion in our business.
  • Help establish a regional inclusion and engagement committee which will support the development, execution and achievement of a regional diversity and inclusion plan as well as supporting the execution of actions at a regional level.
  • Be the conduit between the regional inclusion and engagement committee and the site based committees to ensure engagement, alignment and provide any support needed by the sites to implement their actions and achieve their objectives.
  • Be the “relationship” person for inclusion and engagement activities (including establishing relationships with Indigenous employment and development organisations as well as external bodies associated with increasing female participation in the resources industry)
  • Support the implementation of our engagement survey and work with Unit Manager: Organisational Development & Learning to coordinate regional and site based action plans as well as supporting the sites to implement and track delivery of actions,
  • Deliver and report on key engagement and inclusion metrics
  • Engage with stakeholders to develop our employee value proposition, working with key stakeholders at a regional and site based level to improve the way we engage with team members across the operations, in order to reduce turnover and improve the way we communicate with our employees to increase understanding and pride in our business

Key factors to your success include:

  • Tertiary qualification in HR, community or related discipline
  • Personal resilience and change management experience
  • Experience ideating and creating D&I strategies and translating them into tangible outcomes and solutions
  • Previous experience and demonstrated success in a similar role engaging with key stakeholders in developing and rolling out an engagement and inclusion strategy
  • Demonstrated success in helping shape the culture and mindset of an organisation
  • Ability to bring others on the journey of change as we embed new ways of working
  • Exposure to transformational HR management in the resources sector would be highly regarded
