About The Role

The key objective of the role is to provide excellent technical, yet pragmatic, employment relations advice, managing complex employment related matters across a broad spectrum of issues, meeting the various needs of key stakeholders with a focus on identifying and mitigating risk.

Reporting to the Head of People and Culture the position will be responsible for developing and implementing an employee relations policy and delegations framework that is focused on procedurally fair and just treatment of all employees.

The position will provide sound employment relations advice to senior operations and people and culture managers across the company and will also be focused on improving the employee relations skillset of managers across the organisation, particularly as it relates to disciplinary and performance management matters.

Responsibilities
  • Function as a key adviser in relation to employment relations matters
  • Maintain a working knowledge of union activity and employee relations case law as it relates to the Healthcare sector.
  • In collaboration with the Head of People and Culture, design, develop and implement an Employee relations policy and delegation’s framework.
  • Collaborate effectively with senior managers and HR personnel throughout the organisation to identify opportunities for improvement within the organisation and ensure a procedurally fair and just approach to employee contracts, disciplinary processes, Investigations and complex case management;
  • Manage relationships with unions, peak bodies and industrial advisors to ensure timely and effective communication and mitigation of any risks.
  • In consultation with General Counsel and National Manager Industrial Relations manage matters in the Fair Work Commission (General Protections and Unfair Dismissals); State and Federal Anti-Discrimination Claims.

About You
  • You will possess relevant tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Employment Law, Employee Relations.
  • Relevant post graduate qualifications are desirable.
  • Demonstrated Employee relations and human resource advisory experience ( 5 years +)
  • Demonstrable capability in leading complex Employee relations case management inclusive of Investigations and disciplinary matters.
  • Track record of providing ER advice to operations leaders in a large workforce.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence outcomes with senior stakeholders through effective consultancy.
  • Sound knowledge of employee policy, employment law and employee relations.
  • Ability to develop strong, productive partnerships.
  • Proven capability in providing timely advice, together with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience in developing and delivering coaching and development and training activities.
  • You will have significant experience across a range of industry bodies, employment legislation, industrial Tribunals and interpretation of agreements and awards.
  • Sound investigation skills including experience in interviewing, critical analysis, case management, report writing and planning, and applying relevant legislation or policy.
  • Knowledge of corporate investigations including fraud, serious misconduct issues, whistle-blowers, workplace bullying, harassment and/or discrimination.
