Are you ready?

We currently have an exciting career opportunity to join the Leadership, Culture and Capability team at Optus and lead our Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) and Early Career Talent for Optus. We are on a D&I journey and ready to kick start the next phase of Optus’ progression. We have also recently ranked #11 in Australia for our Graduate Programs and are ready to evolve the way we think about onboarding early career talent to Optus.

To do this, we are looking for our next leader to help us keep building a more diverse, equitable and inclusive Optus that is known for its Early Career programs.

Your role...

As Associate Director, Inclusion and Early Career Talent, you will spearhead the successful implementation of our diversity and inclusion (D&I) strategy. You’ll work closely with HR and leaders across our business to embed a new governance framework and leader-owned approach to D&I and integrate D&I throughout all aspects of our organisation. You will take a front seat in terms of metric-driven diversity and inclusion initiatives.

Additionally, you will also review and enhance the early career talent program for Optus and own the end-to-end experience for graduates from hiring, onboarding through to securing a permanent position at Optus at the end of their term. You will also take your learnings and strategies in these areas into intern and cadet program options to improve our offering to the youth segment of Australia.

What will you be doing?

  • Act as a trusted adviser to the senior leaders of our business and support the development of functional and regional D&I plans that map to our measurable objectives for diversity; &
  • Manage a dashboard of metrics to monitor progress against our measurable objectives (targets) for diversity and to demonstrate the impact of initiatives that map to those objectives.
What makes you perfect for the role?
  • Tertiary qualifications in Social Sciences, Human Resources, or Business discipline;
  • 10+ years' experience in a D&I role with experience in design, development and delivery of end-to-end early career talent strategy;
  • Experience in strategy execution, analysis and reporting recommended actions on D&I activities and trends;
  • Demonstrated experience in building a professional team through coaching, mentoring and successfully developing overall capabilities;
  • Budget management experience, demonstrated high level of leadership and stakeholder management skills;
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking and strong communication skills, with ability to partner and influence at varying levels;
  • Ability to align department strategy to organisational strategy, highly organised, with strong IT literacy;
  • An agile leader with energy, commitment and composure under pressure;
  • Demonstrated passion and experience in D&I areas, e.g. Disability and LGBTI; &
  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to best practice diversity and inclusion practice in complex organisations.
