About the Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Group HSE Manager passionate about safety. This role will be based at either our Brisbane (Wacol) or Sydney (Chipping Norton) locations, supporting the Penske Australia and New Zealand businesses. Reporting to the General Manager People and Culture, you will be instrumental in developing and managing the HSE framework for the business. This will include cultivating a great safety culture by building and fostering effective relationships and driving continuous improvement.

You will succeed through influencing our Leaders to achieve health, safety, and environment excellence. Leading a team of HSE coordinators, you will partner with our locations in Australia and New Zealand and build HSE engagement through:

  • Proactively driving and embedding a safety-first culture with a focus on lead rather than lag indicators.
  •  Coaching and mentoring your HSE team to deliver on stakeholder group HSE objectives and activities that allow and encourage a safety obsessed culture.
  • Providing best practice specialist advice to internal safety specialists, branch and department managers and senior executives on key issues, events and contemporary safety practices.
  • Implementing and driving continuous improvement to the business' Health and Safety culture, strategy, plan and performance.
  • Championing health and wellness initiatives that support enhancing our teams' mental and physical wellbeing.
  • Building HSE resilience in our business, founded on engagement and trust by placing our people at the heart of HSE decision making and ensuring that our HSE performance focusses on understanding success and identifying opportunities for improvement.

About You

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar role preferably in a multi-site workshop, transport, logistics, or heavy industry environment.
  • Tertiary safety qualifications (Bachelors/Masters preferred).
  • Demonstrated ability to create a safety-first culture with geographically dispersed teams through your leadership capabilities.
  • Thorough understanding of Health, Safety and Environment management, legislation, and risk management practices.
  • A strategic focus with a proven success of executing initiatives.
  • An inclusive management style and a proven track record of influencing, coaching and mentoring skills.
  • Proven ability to form effective working relationships at all levels of the organisation.
  • Demonstrated ability to show initiative in identifying continuous improvement opportunities in Health, Safety and Environment performance.
