· We are seeking educators with a passion for online education to work with us on delivering an intensive 6-week online course in Work and Workforce Transformation Trends and Strategy for a leading Australian university. 

Course overview

Learning outcomes

This course introduces the major social, demographic and technological influences such as the ageing workforce, gig economies and AI led automation of tasks that are reshaping the world of work and the workforce and skills challenges they present for contemporary industries and organisations. Students will be provided the theoretical knowledge to understand the complex relationship between external forces, business strategy, recruitment, retention and training practices and workforce transformation. Students will critically analyse via research and industry examples, short and long term enablers of workforce transformation both internal and external of the organisation.

The course will present current approaches being adopted by employers within Australia and internationally to address skills and workforce development challenges. Students will learn to critically evaluate and recommend potential organisational responses to workforce transformation including assessment of risks, and opportunities and impacts of workforce transformation for employers, workers and the broader workplace and industry environment.

• Examine the social, demographic and technological influences reshaping the nature of work, workforces and skill needs.

• Choose and apply different theories to understand the complex relationship between business recruitment, retention and training practices and workforce development and transformation.

• Critically examine and assess different management strategies to workforce development through research and industry examples.

• Assess the risks, opportunities and impacts of workforce transformation for employers, workers and the broader workplace and industry environment. 

Must haves

  • At least relevant Master’s degree
  • Substantial work experience, preferably in the related subject matter
  • Significant industry experience
  • High level written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organisation & planning skills
  • Confidence and resourcefulness in learning new technologies, such as Canvas Learning management System and Collaborate Ultra, Zoom
  • High levels of empathy for the challenges experienced by online students
  • A passion for helping online students succeed both academically and personally

Requirements of the role

  • Delivery of planned academic content
  • Facilitating learning activities and assessment tasks (including e-moderation, assessment and feedback)
  • Marking, processing and submitting assessment results
  • Online facilitators are not required to establish curriculum, design learning activities, schedule learning and teaching, set assessments or develop marking schemes.
