We currently have an exciting opportunity for a practical, solutions focused, Safety Manager to lead the way in all aspects of safety, standards and process improvement initiatives across our 4 Visy Board manufacturing plants in Victoria.

The Role:
Reporting to the General Manager (VIC), you will be responsible for driving continuous improvement in the health, safety and environmental (HSE) performance.

Working alongside the National HSE team and site people leaders, you will foster a positive safety culture by engaging all workers across both sites to take a proactive approach to their safety, coordinating and supporting the implementation of HSE plans, systems and initiatives.

You will be a passionate and collaborative SME with a keen interest in driving culture change and ensuring compliance to health, safety and environmental standards.

The key responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • Facilitate and support the implementation of HSE systems, initiatives, competency training and standard operating procedures (SOP’s)
  • Advise managers and line supervisors on compliance requirements and facilitate rectification of any non-conformances
  • Engage people on site, coaching and challenging behaviours to ensure safety is front of mind
  • Conducting regular verification activities to ensure risk controls are in place and effective, maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements and Visy’s standards
  • Perform assessments, audits and inspections, analysing gaps and devising actionable items to eliminate risks
  • Adhering to all safety and environmental policies and procedures

What you will bring to the team:

  • Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety or related
  • Knowledge and application of HSE management systems in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and effectively manage conflict
  • Proactive, continuous improvement mindset focused on efficiencies and a solutions-oriented approach
  • Excellent time management, with the ability to prioritise and deliver in a fast paced environment
