Who Are We?

With 40 venues across 7 brands in Australia, New Zealand & Singapore, our growing family is on the lookout for a passionate, professional and fun Learning Experience Designer based in our Funlab Support Office in Abbotsford. We also offer flexible and remote working opportunities.

What you'll do:

Reporting to the GM of Learning & Development

  • You will work in an end-to-end capacity to create and enhance learning material that supports our Motherfunner’s (Yes, we call ourselves Motherfunners!) ongoing development;
  • Through your sound understanding of learning theory, creative flair and ability to engage and influence stakeholders, you’ll produce deceptively simple learning experiences that make people’s lives easier, improve the guest experience, connect people back to the purpose of the business and drive tangible results;
  • Provide advisory support, working with SME's, knowledge and stakeholders from across our business to influence and advise on theory led recommendations;
  • Take ownership of key learning projects; from scoping to measuring results
  • Play a key role in the development of our people, thinking from an end user experience and developing learning content from a human-centred perspective

Why work with us?

  • You get to join the innovative and people focused Funlab family!;
  • You'll have access to a personalised development program and opportunities to work alongside and learn from industry experts;
  • You'll get to immerse yourself in a people-first culture - focused on upskilling and developing our Motherfunners (team members!) to future success;
  • An excellent remuneration package will be offered to the lucky candidate;
  • Free activities for yourself at ANY and ALL of our Funlab brands;
  • But mainly...because we ar Motherfunnin' awesome!

Still reading?! Here's a little more about the role

We’re in the business of FUN, an industry with a highly casualised workforce, which means our guest-facing Motherfunners won’t find themselves sat in front of a computer for training (and you, of all people, know how much we learn that way...). That’s not how we roll! You’ll be responsible for the scope, design and collaborative development of all facets of learning resources, taking a consultative approach to understanding and solving the core issues.

If you're all about buzzwords, we're here to please...

You’ll bring an agile and iterative approach to your work, designing learning material not bound to the typical courses and programs. We value a ‘resources over courses’ approach to solving business problems to incorporate just-in-time learning which is in the stream of work, supporting the practice and peer-to-peer learning.

What you've got:

  • In a profession that is rapidly evolving, you’ll bring a hunger for learning yourself and a passion to your area of speciality
  • You will also be experienced and proficient in producing human-centred content which is sleek and fun, whilst incorporating learning theory and methodologies to achieve measurable learning outcomes. You’ll bring these skills to different mediums, not often limited to traditional eLearning
  • Certificate IV in Workplace Training & Assessment; a degree in learning educational; or related qualification/s
  • Strong verbal communication, empathy and complimentary soft skills
  • Excellent technical writing skills
  • Sound knowledge of current learning methodologies and models
  • Minimum of two years professional experience in Instructional Design
  • Experience working in an advisory & consultative role for learning
  • Digital Marketing experience or qualifications is strong bonus

When you apply:

We know that producing content takes blood, sweat and sometimes a few tears, but we don’t want you to give up all those vital fluids for the sake of this application, so we ask that you include a portfolio with your application so we can see your skills in full flight!

But please… no template cover letters. Use the opportunity to give us a glimpse of your personality and to demonstrate why you are the perfect fit for Funlab and for designing ever-better learning experiences for our Motherfunners.
