The Team

The Chief Controls Office (CCO) focus is on driving simpler and better risk and regulatory outcomes through provision of Transparency, Consistency and Insight to our Business Banking divisions. We do this through robust Governance practices, the application of Frameworks and Policy in a consistent manner across BB and via centres of excellence where specialised resources are required for targeted risk focus areas.

What a day in your role will look like?

In this team you will support the Executive Manager Business Management, Risk Culture and Accreditation to continually improve Business Banking’s approach to monitoring and managing its risk culture. You’ll also be expected to define Business Banking’s target risk culture (in our Risk Appetite Statement) and expected behaviours.

Other Responsibilities May Include

  • Perform ongoing monitoring of Business Banking’s risk culture maturity, through the analysis of perception indicators (such as survey output) and outcome indicators (including risk management data)
  • Provide business insights into risk culture through the facilitation of risk assessments, including but limited to our annual “YourVoice” assessment for risk culture.
  • Provide risk culture SME advisory to key stakeholders, leaders and business partners, as they seek to improve the risk culture in their particular areas
  • Engage with the Group Risk Culture team in the design and BB implementation of frameworks that will elevate the focus on risk culture across the BB.
  • Review Business Banking key performance indicator structures/weighting (in-line with Group guidance) and maintain Business Banking’s Risk Assessment in Performance guidance
  • Maintain a strong understanding of the regulatory environment, regulatory change and thought leadership relating to governance, culture, accountability and remuneration (particularly, as set out by APRA)
  • Partner with Business Banking Learning in the development and maintenance of non-financial risk related training material
  • Support CCO and extended controls office assessment and development of team member operational risk and compliance capability
What will you need to succeed in this role?

This role will suit someone who has demonstrated experience in the field of risk culture, with a focus on risk culture embedment or transformation. We are also looking for candidates that have a strong understanding of Risk Management.
  • Strong diagnostic skills and the ability to create compelling insights using quantitative and qualitative data points.
  • The ability to facilitate group dialogue and capability uplift.
  • Sound stakeholder management and influencing skills, ability to build good rapport.
  • Strong written and oral communication and commercial acumen to make sound commercial decisions and solve business problems.
  • Ability to engage at senior level of leadership.
  • Strong organisational, planning, time management and project management skills.
