About us

COVID-19 Quarantine Victoria (CQV) is responsible for Victoria's COVID-19 Accommodation response, including:

  • Mandatory quarantine for returned overseas travellers
  • Emergency Accommodation for people that cannot safely isolate/quarantine in their accommodation.

The Victorian Chief Health Officer has mandated that all returning overseas travellers arriving in Victoria must go into mandatory quarantine for 14 days from the day of their arrival to help prevent the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19).

In addition, CQV is responsible for the operation of Victoria's Emergency Accommodation program for community members and their close contacts who have tested positive for COVID-19 and where an assessment has concluded that there are no other suitable alternative accommodation options for self-isolation.

Infection control and prevention is the primary objective of the mandatory quarantine and emergency accommodation programs.


About the role

The People Support Officer sits within the CQV People Support team of People and Workplace Services and supports the HR Support HR helpdesk function. The main focus is responding directly to general HR enquiries in an efficient, effective and customer-focused manner to deliver timely, accurate and reliable HR support to managers and employees.

This role will require you to apply your strong organisational skills with an ability to prioritise and manage workloads and work productively under minimal supervision.

You will possess exceptional stakeholder management, problem-solving and communication skills, along with the commitment to provide outstanding customer service.

The People Support helpdesk will be a rostered position that operates seven days per week. Applicants must be flexible to work between these hours, for a period of 7.6 hours per day.


Your key responsibilities will also include:

  • Responding to first level queries relating to payroll, recruitment, learning and development, performance, health, safety and wellbeing, workplace relations, leave and other entitlements and keeping the caller appraised of their query through to resolution
  • Identifying opportunities for service and process improvement that result in employees receiving a better customer experience
  • Maintaining accurate contact logs and records, ensuring that all queries are followed up and answered within acceptable timeframes

About you

As our ideal candidate, you will have:

  • Proven customer service experience, and exposure to an HR helpdesk/service environment
  • Solid knowledge of contemporary human resources practices and, preferably, HR/Payroll systems
  • Demonstrated administrative skills, including managing databases and creating spreadsheets whilst maintaining the confidentiality of personal information
  • Demonstrated experience working to meet tight deadlines, achieve targets and adapt to changing priorities.
