Unique opportunity to join MTM’s newly created Network Assets and Assurance People team! Reporting directly to the Head of People for Network Assets and Assurance and partnering with the Divisional People teams and the business’s Centre’s of Expertise (CoEs), this role will contribute to the creation and delivery of an aligned People strategy and successful delivery of People initiatives and programs of work for the assigned client group. Located within the MTM Infrastructure Division North Melbourne, the People Business Partner will enable sustainable business performance through strong partnering with key client areas within Metro and across the full spectrum of people related disciplines.

In addition, the successful applicant will manage a People Advisor and work in partnership with the Talent Specialist and Workplace Relations Manager for the MTM Infrastructure group. This role is an active member of the Infrastructure leadership team and works closely in support of the General Manager in an advisory capacity.

  • In collaboration with the Head of People, contribute to the development and implementation of a business relevant People Plan.
  • Partner with the business to lead annual people delivery activities, i.e. performance management, compensation reviews etc.
  • Contribute to the delivery of the People plan aligned with the People and Business Strategy.
  • Provide high level advice to ensure the effective application of Metro’s People policies and processes within client group(s), legal and regulatory compliance i.e. disciplinary matters, grievances, investigations etc.
  • Support business transformations by delivering the appropriate organisational designs and implementations to enhance business performance and effectiveness.
  • Coach and equip managers with the appropriate knowledge to effectively lead and manage their teams.
  • Facilitate the development of leaders and transition required to create the desired leadership portfolio of the future.
  • Deliver talent and development strategies, including facilitating talent reviews, succession planning, and direct coaching.
  • Deliver plans to enable key culture transitions reinforcing the desired high performance culture through corporate programs.
  • Build sustainable trusted relationship that solve for business problems whilst aligning to corporate practises and help guide positive employee interactions and outcomes.
  • Engage with people leaders on the impacts of new roles, replacement strategies, salary benchmarking, position evaluations.
  • Partner with People Centres of Excellence to deliver on initiatives as required.
  • Additional projects may also be included, for example taking the lead on corporate initiated programs.
Essential skills and experience:
  • Tertiary qualifications in HR Management, or relevant discipline
  • Minimum 8 years’ experience working within a People business partnership model
  • Strong proven experience working with and influencing senior stakeholders
  • Demonstrated knowledge of relevant industrial awards, industrial relations and WorkCover policies and procedures
  • Demonstrated experience of managing complex Employee Relations matters across a large blue collar workforce
  • Strong proven experience in change programs
  • Sound experience working in a complex, People functional service model in a mid-large sized corporate matrixed organisation
  • Strong business consulting/partnering experience
  • Demonstrated experience in supporting the implementation and delivery of People programs and projects
