Your opportunity

As the Safety Manager - Car Rentals you will provide technical safety strategy and direction for the Car Rentals business, while also working collaboratively across the NRMA Group. This role is pivotal to enhancing a safe operation and culture through fostering engagement and participation in our safety, compliance, wellbeing and environmental programs, and promoting proactive safety management to safeguard the health and wellbeing of our employees, contractors and members, and for the protection of the environment.

Your key responsibilities will be to:


  • Develop the Car Rental Safety strategy and implement strategic safety performance improvement initiatives
  • Assist operational leaders in prioritising the management of reported occurrences
  • Take the lead in significant safety incident investigations
  • Advise the business on meeting legislative requirements
  • Provide technical support for operational safety compliance
  • Lead safety communication and consultation
  • Analyse and develop insight from safety performance and recommend measures to address risks and issues
  • Champion the ongoing development, implementation and continuous improvement of the Safety Management Systems
  • Ensure regulatory requirements and industry best practice are integrated within Safety Management Systems
  • Drive the business to implement continuous improvement of audit functions
  • Actively contribute to the development and implementation of the Group Assurance Audit Program
  • Support the business in identifying safety training requirements through Training Needs Analysis
  • Drive a proactive safety culture through effective communication, coaching and mentoring
  • Achieve maximum reporting of all safety events through MySafety including Hazards, Near Misses and Incidents

Requirements for Success:


  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Safety or related discipline
  • Minimum of 5 years Safety experience or equivalent
  • Sound knowledge of Safety legislation
  • Sound knowledge of reporting systems and demonstrated experience in incident investigation
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Demonstrated experience in stakeholder engagement and consultation
  • Demonstrated experience in changing safety culture
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Ability to inspire and lead the Safety and Wellbeing agenda across a diverse range of Divisional Business Units
  • Ability to manage a variety of tasks with changing priorities and dealing with complexity and uncertainty

Desirable


  • Experience in safety management system for complex operations
  • Knowledge of Federal State & Territory Safety legislation and demonstrated experience in the design, development and implementation of management systems
