The Role

Austrade’s People Branch is looking for experienced Human Resource (HR) professionals to join the team. The People Branch works in partnership to deliver strategic and operational workforce services that enable organisational capability and manage workforce risks. We provide advice and services in areas including workplace relations, wellbeing and workplace health and safety, inclusion and diversity, performance management, recruitment, learning and development, workforce planning, talent, and recruitment.

As a Senior HR Adviser you will take a leadership role in teams responsible for supporting and contributing to the delivery of HR services and support across a global network.

While a merit pool will be established for future vacancies, the roles that currently exist are in the Learning and Performance team and the Workplace Relations and Wellbeing team.

Senior HR Adviser, Learning and Performance

This role reports to the Manager, Learning and Performance and is responsible for managing Austrade Performance Management Framework and initiatives to develop capability and support people managers.

Duties Include
  • Lead the review and implementation of a performance management framework, which incorporates elements such as setting clear and manageable expectations, driving behavioural change, enabling quality conversations, increasing management and staff accountability, promoting performance at level, and managing a technology platform to record, track and facilitate engagement in the process.
  • Administer the performance management framework to monitor compliance, participation and engagement across the agency, including facilitating the performance management cycle and process, providing advice and support to managers and staff including guidance and tools for performance and capability improvement
  • Lead the delivery of effective capability development programs and initiatives for Austrade people managers
Senior HR Adviser, Workplace Relations

This role reports to the Manager, Workplace Relations and Wellbeing and is responsible for overseeing a contemporary employment framework that aligns with Austrade’s employee value proposition, organisation objectives and local labour laws across 49 international jurisdictions. Experience in an APS HR role, with sound knowledge of the APS employment framework, is preferred.

Duties Include
  • As part of a small team manage general workplace relations enquiries in areas including enterprise agreement interpretation and negotiation, global terms and conditions interpretation and reviews, code of conduct matters and workplace investigations, dispute resolution and policy development.
  • Providing workplace and employment advice for teams in Australia and overseas including interpreting and advising on the terms and conditions of employment and researching local labour laws or seeking legal advice for each country.
  • Employee case management and conducting workplace investigations in relation to the Code of Conduct matters
  • Working with areas of the People Branch to build expertise in case management and dispute resolution by providing a service for simpler cases and developing solutions for complex cases.
