Learning and Development Specialists

Level 6

$98,586-$113,618 plus superannuation

ASIS is Australia’s overseas secret intelligence collection agency. Its mission is to protect and promote
Australia’s vital interests through the provision of intelligence services as directed by the Government. Its
work can involve collecting intelligence relating to national security, international relations and economic
issues. It also contributes to Australia’s coordinated national efforts against terrorism, proliferation of
weapons of mass destruction, and trans-national issues such as people smuggling.

The Learning and Development team is seeking highly professional and motivated people to join their
team for a range of functions in support of training and development.

These positions are Canberra based, with conditions of service similar to those in the Australian Public
Service, including superannuation. (The successful candidate will be required to obtain and maintain the
highest level security clearance and Australian citizenship.)

In addition to current vacancies, successful applicants through this process will be placed in a merit pool
which may be utilised to fill future vacancies over the next 12 months.

Role

Corporate Learning and Development
The Corporate Learning and Development officer supports enterprise level training and development
functions. The team is responsible for the development and coordination of a range of internal and
external training opportunities including, but not limited to, onboarding, Graduate development,
leadership and management, talent management and study support programs. It also supports the
broader Learning and Development Branch through oversight of strategic communications and
administration of the Learning Management System (LMS).

In this role you will engage in the development of digital learning, oversee strategic communications for
the branch, coordinate and support training delivery, and support the management of courses through
the LMS. You will also engage with key stakeholders both within and outside ASIS to ensure corporate
training is relevant to ASIS’s objectives and continues to build skilled and engaged officers.

The role requires a dynamic team player who enjoys working with stakeholders, team members and
individually on projects. You will be able to meet tight deadlines and work to support ASIS priorities.

Graduate Coordinator
LD Branch is seeking a highly motivated and well organised team member who can contribute to the
development, implementation and associated administration of the ASIS Graduate Program.

In this role you will engage with key stakeholders across all divisions to ensure the successful coordination
of the Graduate program.

The role requires a dynamic team player who enjoys working with stakeholders and individually on
projects. You will be able to meet tight deadlines and work to support ASIS priorities.

Key Responsibilities and Tasks

The following is an overview of key responsibilities and tasks:

Corporate Learning and Development:
Work in partnership with stakeholders in providing exceptional service delivery;

Identify and develop new or enhance innovative capabilities regarding training needs and provide
recommendations to support ASIS’s objectives and strategic priorities;

Identify and administer courses and learning opportunities to support ASIS’s objectives and
priorities;

Design and develop digital learning packages;

Understand and document the user experience, and undertake user testing (usability or UAT);

Coordinate strategic communications on behalf of the Branch to customers;

Support the administration of courses within the Learning Management System (PeopleSoft);

Contribute to the development or revision of training policies, business processes and systems
within LD Branch;

Develop, drive and apply continuous improvement, ways to deliver better services and support to
customers;

Cultivate productive working relationships to exchange information and ensure alignment with
organisational priorities; and

Provide team leader support empowering them to deliver results.

Graduate Coordinator:
Assist with the design, implementation and review of the Graduate Program;

Assist with the Graduate Mentoring Program;

Provide administrative duties and support to the manager;

Liaise with existing and incoming Graduate cohorts and candidates;

Prepare reporting documentation including briefings and other correspondence;

Establish and maintain effective client customer relationships with key internal and external
customers and stakeholders;

Work in collaboration with relevant external agencies;

Work in collaboration with operational and corporate branches and teams to understand their
needs and develop and implement solutions; and

Contribute to a positive working environment through building effective relationships with all
team members as well as other teams within the section.

Education, qualification and experience requirements

The following education, qualifications and/or experience will be highly regarded:

Corporate Learning and Development:
Proven excellent verbal and written communication skills;

Highly developed customer service skills;

Proven experience in the prioritisation and organisation of tasks, often under time pressure;

Demonstrated experience in HR strategy, talent management, development program

management or system management; and

Background in HR discipline areas such as people development, employee relations, remuneration

and conditions of service, legislation, employment frameworks and workforce planning would be

beneficial.

Graduate Coordinator:
Knowledge and experience in organisational learning and development;

Excellent coordination and administration skills;

Excellent verbal and written communications; and

Project management skills and experience in digital learning would be an advantage.
