Home to over 1,900 employees across three key business segments: Mars Wrigley, Petcare and Food, Mars has had a presence in Australia for more than fifty years. Due to some upcoming extended leave, they are looking for an Employee/Industrial Relations Manager for 3 to 4 months from early June.

Ideally based at the Wodonga manufacturing facility, the role can also work remotely from the Melbourne CBD office and/or from home. It is important to note that some company-paid travel to Wodonga will be required initially in order to establish and invest in relationships face to face.

Reporting to the Associate Relations Lead - ANZ, who is based in Wodonga, you will be an active member of a team of associates across New Zealand, Sydney, Melbourne and Ballarat. Your remit spans all employees at the Wodonga facility and a second facility in Wyong. Your responsibilities will include:
  • Managing inquiries, mitigating risk and minimising adverse impacts to the organisation through the application of policies, procedures
    and practices with adherence to legal and regulatory requirements
  • Resolution of issues and addressing client needs to ensure situations, issues and complaints are resolved fairly, objectively, and in a manner that aligns with Mars' principles
  • Frontline case management
  • Supporting line managers with performance matters e.g. performance improvement plans, providing feedback and disciplinary meetings
  • Managing investigations e.g. breaches of safety, absenteeism
  • Deliver capability building programs for line managers
  • Supporting EBA negotiations
  • Liaising with in-house legal counsel and other external providers
  • Promoting diversity across the business
  • Working closely with the Mars Payroll team
