    Known for our range of stylish, contemporary lounges and dining settings, Nick Scali Furniture has over 60 showrooms across Australia and New Zealand and is market leader in furniture retailing having been around for over 50 years. The HR Team support employees and managers in Showrooms and Distribution Centers across Australia and New Zealand as well as the Head Office at North Ryde. 


    Reporting to the HR Manager, the Human Resources Advisor plays a key role in developing strong working relations at all levels across the company with the benefit of a flat management structure. The role provides advice and support through the development and implementation of workflows that ensure people are onboarded, trained and developed in a timely and effective manner to maximise productivity within their role. 

    The HR Advisor will also be involved in the administration of Workplace Health and Safety programs, learning and development initiatives, assisting in HR policy development and handling employment relations matters. This is an excellent opportunity for an all rounded HR generalist who is highly organised and efficient, practical and hands on with a continuous improvement mindset. There are a number of key projects and initiatives currently being rolled out across the Company which this role would play a key part in implementing and ensuring success.


      • You have experience working within a corporate office, providing advice and support remotely across geographically dispersed locations
      • You are open to learn, try new things, be mentored and enjoy working as part of a small HR team with support from HR Admin, payroll and recruitment professionals
      • You are detailed and methodical in your approach to work and are meticulous in delivering high quality results within a fast-paced environment
      • You are resilient in dealing with people matters and bring a depth of maturity, and experience in resolving issues in a practical and timely manner
      • You have an open mind and are able to maintain the highest standards of confidentiality and build trust by gaining the respect of employees and managers
      • You enjoy driving efficiencies in processes and have some exposure to change management initiatives as well as implementing new HR systems and programs
      • You have a sound knowledge of working within a rapidly changing employment relations and industrial relations environment within the retail landscape
      • You have had exposure to handling workplace investigations and employment related grievances including disciplinary actions


      • Human Resources related Degree or relevant qualification
      • Immediate start/ minimal notice period preferred
      • Minimum 1-2 years’ experience in a HR Advisor role or ready to step up to the next level from a longer period within a HR Officer role
      • HR experience in the retail/ warehousing industry preferred, although not essential
      • A basic understanding and ideally previous experience working with a variety of modern Awards (Retail, Clerks Private Sector and Storage Services). Experience working with New Zealand employment legislation is advantageous, but not essential
      • Exposure to HR systems including any of the following would be highly regarded: HR3, TimeTarget and Litmos online learning platform
      • A learning & development background is ideal including experience in designing and developing online learning content as well as delivering training courses
      • Exceptional ability to communicate with people at all levels of the Company from the showroom and warehouse floor up to senior management
      • Excellent conflict resolution, problem solving and negotiation skills with a commercial mindset
