An exciting opportunity exists for a talented, positive and motivated individual to join Statewide Independent Wholesalers Limited (SIW), Tasmania’s largest grocery wholesaler. Employing over 400 people across their Tasmania Regional Distribution Centre, SIW is a unique joint venture between Woolworths and Tasmanian Independent Retailers.

About the Role

As the Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) Officer you will provide professional and timely advice on a wide range of safety matters across the business, with the goal of supporting and enhancing our positive safety culture. You will be the first point of contact for our people in relation to safety matters and take care of the coordination of our programs and initiatives.

Reporting to the Safety Health and Environment (SHE) Manager, you will develop and deliver improvements to our focus on safety. With regular reporting requirements of our safety statistics you will also use your ability to collate data and identify trends to ensure that we maintain our alignment to our strategic objectives.

Your day to day activities will include:

  • Provide support to the SHE Manager in the execution of SIW’s safety strategy and plans.
  • Apply a continuous improvement (CI) approach to all functions/tasks.
  • Coordinate SHE Communications.
  • Contribute to administration tasks within the safety management system.
  • Coach operational teams in the implementation of the safety management system.
  • Maintain SHE reporting systems and conduct data analysis to inform SHE strategy.
  • Assist Injury Management Coordinator in managing return to work as required.
  • Other tasks to assist the wider SHE Team as required, including leave coverage.

About you

As the SHE Officer you will demonstrate the following attributes:

  • Tertiary Level education (in any discipline) strongly desirable.
  • Certificate IV or higher in WH&S OR Personal Injury Management desirable.
  • Experience in WH&D management desirable.
  • Experience in managing injuries desirable.
  • Competence in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint and Google Suite.
  • Effective organisational skills and strong administrative skills.
  • Ability to communicate, influence and negotiate with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Sound time management skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Excellent planning and problem solving skills.
