Employee Relations are the interactions we have with, and messages we send to, our people throughout the employee lifecycle. Employee Relations are key focus points in Accenture’s culture setting, leadership, people management and policy approaches.

The Employee Relations and Policies Specialist, Australia and New Zealand (ANZ) is responsible for providing specialist advice to the whole of HR, and employees throughout ANZ; Co-ordinating compliance activities; Working in partnership with local Employee Relations and Employment Law, and our global partners including Corporate Investigations and Global Policy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Consistently provide timely assessments and advice that is accurate, and aligned culturally, strategically and operationally, and is compliant with Accenture policies, Employment Agreements, Modern Awards and statutory requirements

  • Be a specialist assessor and advisor in matters throughout the employee lifecycle including: employee terms and conditions of employment, employer obligations, health and safety, employee wellbeing, Making our Conduct Count and managing conduct issues; as well as other complex matters under the guidance of senior members of the Employee Relations team

  • Manage Accenture’s ongoing compliance with Modern Awards including alignment on classifications, provisions, and reporting across the employee life cycle.

  • Have a thorough understanding of Accenture’s cultural initiatives and the related underpinning Employee Relations principles, namely in: Leadership DNA, Truly Human, Performance Achievement, Meaningful Conversations and Making our Conduct Count

  • Have working knowledge of the Australian and New Zealand employment law framework, relevant Modern Awards, Accenture’s Employment Agreements and HR policies, and the ability to accurately interpret, advise and educate

  • Support our people with empathy, compassion and understanding in relation to the impacts of illness and injury at work

  • Management of, and advisory on, salary continuance and workers' compensation claims including regular liaison with insurers and HR Partners

  • Management of, and advisory on, Return To Work Programs

  • Promotion of programs led by Employee Relations, Health and Wellbeing

  • Research, reporting, and identification of trends; and related proposals

  • Delivering educational presentations, including developing materials

  • Understanding of health and safety principles and how they relate to employee relations

  • Conduct investigations

  • Confidently conduct workplace investigations in a fair, reasonable and diligent manner locally, and in partnership with Employee Relations Manager and Global Sensitive Matters teams

  • Apply specialist knowledge to reach investigation outcomes

  • Recognise when investigations are not required

  • Advise and support HR Partners in conducting investigations

  • Health and safety case management and reporting

  • Confidently and diligently manage and oversee cases from start to finish relating to health and safety incidents, ergonomics, salary continuance and workers’ compensation

  • Coordinate end to end risk assessment activities

  • Diligently keep records and manage Accenture ANZ’s Employee Relations Case Management (ERCM) tool, and related reporting - including for the MU Managing Director and ANZ’s Board of Directors

  • Coach users in ERCM, and develop and implement compliance plans

  • Enhancement and Education

  • Provide specialist advise on Accenture’s Global and local ANZ HR Policies (including Accenture’s Making our Conduct Count Policies 1000-1004) and health and safety obligations

  • Keep abreast of Australia and New Zealand’s Employee Relations landscape, landmark decisions in employment law, and changes to employment laws

  • Enhance ANZ Policy supplements, particularly further to statutory or strategic changes

  • Project Management

  • End to end project management of Employee Relations and Policy initiatives and enhancements

  • Operational diligence

  • Diligence in record keeping and an ability to manage ERCM and related reporting and coaching

  • Strong stakeholder management skills - particularly timely and reliable end to end task management, and responsiveness

  • High attention to detail
