Metallurgical coal is an essential ingredient in blast-furnace steel manufacture, producing steel used for critical building and infrastructure around the world. In Australia, we operate two open cut and three underground metallurgical coal mines in Queensland’s Bowen Basin, every year producing millions of tonnes of the highest quality hard coking coal for this purpose.

Job Description
-We are seeking a passionate, relationship-driven HR Superintendent to join our HR team. This exciting, fast paced, dynamic position is based on site and will be focusing on driving and delivering operational accountability and ownership across Capcoal Surface Operation in Middlemount, QLD.
As the Human Resources Superintendent, reporting into the Human Resources Manager, you will be responsible for providing support and leadership to the Human Resources team and delivering true HR partnering to the business as well as demonstrated strategic capability and ownership.
This position is an integral member of the onsite HR team by providing systems support across both human resources management and learning and development functions. As a result, you must be comfortable in advising and collaborating as a senior member of the leadership team whilst directly reporting through to the HR Manager. The role has a strong focus on business partnering and customer relationship building, and will provide you with an opportunity to display your capabilities of being able to engage with all levels of the business.
This rewarding role will see you led a small team whilst delivering results to the broader business. Ideally you will have proven exposure across both HR/L&D disciplines within the mining resources industry and supported by formal tertiary qualifications.
To be successful, you will have a sold understanding of contemporary employment engagements, performance management systems, remuneration strategy/practices and experience working with industrial relations across a diverse workforce.
Overview:

  • Supports the HR Manager by assisting in the development of strategic and tactical plans to support specific identified short term and long term business goals.
  • Coordinates the Operation’s input into and participation within the Group and Business Unit talent management, development, performance management and reward cycles and processes.
  • Ensures timely and accurate delivery of HR reporting suite for end of month, absence management, and other ad-hoc requests
  • Provide timely and informed Human Resources advice to management and internal stakeholders
  • Communicate and advise on Anglo American Human Resources systems, processes, and projects
  • Supporting the Contractor Management side
  • Oversee HR investigations and workers compensation case management
  • Mentoring the HR team to ensure ongoing capabilities and career development
  • Effective representation and negotiation with unions and regulatory authorities
  • Analyse and present recommendations based on monthly HR and site reporting
  • Qualifications

-You hold a tertiary qualification in a human resource related discipline.

  • You have at least five (5) years relevant human resources work experience as a senior professional within the Resources Industry.
  • You have knowledge of relevant state and Australian employment legislation.
  • You have extensive employee relations and case management experience.
  • You have the ability to plan and delegate work to meet Company requirements.
  • You have excellent communication, engagement and influencing skills.
  • You are agile in an ever changing environment.

Additional Information
-This is a 12 Month Fixed Term contract, residential based role with a Monday-Friday roster based at Capcoal Surface Operation in Middlemount, QLD. The successful candidate will be rewarded with a competitive salary package, and subsidised accommodation.
