We are looking for an experienced Workplace Safety and Training Officer to join us on our journey and continue business growth to achieve both safety excellence and awareness through implementing standardised safety training and guidance . This position will be offered initially as a one-year fixed term contract with the view to permanency.

Reporting to Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) in this exciting role, your main focus will be workplace safety and training, with the future potential to expand your training responsibilities across the business. This role will be based in West Melbourne, with responsibility for all our locations across the Melbourne region. 

Your Role:

  • Coordinate WHS activities across all sites
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, near misses and unsafe working conditions and report identified hazards.
  • Assist with internal and external audits for all warehouses and offices to ensure compliance with the WHS Safety Management System and relevant legislation.
  • Manage the Workers Compensation injury management process.
  • Provide expert, practical advice to leaders whilst delivering initiatives that continually improve the learning and safety culture.
  • Provide support to leaders to achieve the required change in safety performance through coaching, mentoring and advice.
  • Collaborate with internal departments and external training providers to design, develop and implement safety and compliance training for all staff members. 
  • Ensure training documentation complies with relevant industry legislation standards and ensure internal governance processes are met.
  • Continually review and update resources to ensure relevancy and communicate all changes to relevant stakeholders.

To be successful, you must have:

Safety and Training experience, able to demonstrate strong safety leadership skills with the ability to conduct training sessions across a diverse workgroup and multiple site locations. You will possess excellent presentation, coaching, mentoring and influencing skills, including:

  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
  • Knowledge of legislation, industry standards and management system standards.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in WHS officer role. 
  • Advanced PowerPoint presentation skills
  • Must be fluent in English
  • Cantonese/Mandarin speaking is an advantage but not essential
