About The Role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Advisor, Benefits to lead the design, governance and execution of various benefits, health & insurance and pension programs across the region. You will manage key vendor partnerships, provide operational guidance, advice and training support, be a trusted advisor to the People community and participate in various oversight committees.

This role is part of the Benefits Area of Expertise team at Rio Tinto reporting to the Manager, Benefits – APAC & Innovation.

Supporting the broader Benefits Area of Expertise, in this exciting role you will
  • Lead the design, continuous improvement and delivery of benefits programs for the region;
  • Manage key vendor partnerships, including end-to-end governance, risk and financial processes;
  • Work closely with Procurement, Finance, Legal, Tax, IS&T and Ethics & Integrity teams to manage vendors and ensure the provision of services by vendors (where applicable) meet or exceed expectations, agreed performance targets and operate within Rio Tinto frameworks and risk tolerance;
  • Provide support to APAC business units by providing an internal expert advice service;
  • Be recognised as a trusted advisor for all key stakeholders;
  • Manage superannuation/pension fund projects reporting to Trustees as required;
  • Attend and provide support to relevant Committee and Trustee board meetings;
  • Ensure administration, governance, compliance and risk management frameworks relevant to all plans always remain appropriate;
  • Build and maintain mutually beneficial stakeholder relationships;
  • Leverages knowledge to understand the local context and provide support for continuous improvement;
  • Provide input into and update benefit standards, policies and reporting as necessary;
  • Maintain an excellent awareness and knowledge of market practice, trends, insights and innovation in all areas of benefits, health & risk insurance and pensions;
  • Provide operational support and training to all relevant operational, support and services teams; and
  • Support the People community, business units and leaders with global initiatives and projects.
What You’ll Bring

To be successfully considered for this role, you will have
  • Relevant Business, Health and/or HR degree qualifications;
  • At least eight to ten years’ experience working across regional or global benefits, health plan, risk insurance and superannuation/pension plans;
  • Project management, good organisational skills and attention to detail;
  • Excellent stakeholder management, engagement and communication skills;
  • Ability to function well in a dynamic environment with many stakeholders and priorities;
  • Strong focus on care for people, health, safety and environment;
  • Working knowledge of Agile, Lean and Human-centred design principles; and
  • The courage and conviction to challenge, to be bold and be a benefits pioneer.

People Services provide HR advisory, global mobility, talent acquisition and recruitment, employee relations, remuneration and performance services to leaders, employees & HR business partners.

Whilst the role is based in Brisbane, we are open to flexibility of location within APAC regions, such as Perth or Singapore.
