About the team


The Corporate Service team within Sydney Metro supports the whole organisation including Operational and Project teams with best-in-class IT, Technology, People and Culture services, Financial Management and Communications functions. We partner closely with the business as well as with senior stakeholders, media and community groups and industry to drive performance, build relationships and manage our exemplary reputation.


The opportunity

Right now, we have opportunities for Workforce Development Advisor to join us in Corporate Services/People and Culture reporting to Senior Manager, Workforce Development. The role is based in Transport for NSW in Sydney’s CBD, however the role will be required on occasion to work at project site offices

The primary purpose of the role is to collaborate with key stakeholders both external and internal, coordinate the implementation of workforce capability and industry participation programs and initiatives. The role also provides subject matter expertise to internal teams and contractors and analyses reports on workforce capability data to inform continuous improvement practice and the development of future programs.


What you will be involved in:

  • Ensure the implementation and monitoring of the Sydney Metro Workforce Development, Industry and Aboriginal Participation plans, requirements and programs through collaborative partnerships with industry.
  • Work collaboratively with the wider Workforce Development and Capability team, Project teams and key stakeholders to support consistent delivery and reporting of workforce development requirements including the NSW Aboriginal Procurement Policy
  • Maintaining knowledge and understanding of current operations and future plans of functional and implementation groups across the broader Sydney Metro Office
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues across the Sydney Metro delivery office, TfNSW, and within the public and private sectors
  • Maintaining a thorough understanding of wider government policies and drivers relating to jobs, skills and industry

About you

You are a tertiary qualified or have experience in workforce development, vocational training, employment, social policy or corporate social responsibility fields in the infrastructure delivery sector and looking for an opportunity to utitlise your workforce development skills and experience. We are looking for someone that is able to work collaboratively, provide continuous improvement initiatives and be comfortable with change.


You have extensive experience in workforce development working on infrastructure or construction projects. Ideally, you also have worked in vocational education and training environment within construction or rail, have strong grasp of Microsoft Excel, be able to establish productive relationships, work collaboratively with key stakeholders, have the ability to provide advice and guidance to key stakeholders professionally. Knowledge and experience in the implementation of the NSW Aboriginal Procurement Policy would be beneficial.


Salary and Benefits


The salary for this position is USS Grade 8 ($118,015 - $132,898) per annum plus superannuation and leave loading.
