About The Role

We have a rare opportunity for a highly driven and commercially astute HR professional to provide high quality operational HR support, strategic advice and compliance in a dynamic, fast paced environment supporting our core businesses (Property & Casualty, Life & Health, iptiQ and Corporate Solutions).

As a trusted Partner to the business, you will be required to implement progressive Human Resources strategies and policies in the areas of remuneration, employee relations, recruitment, and people development to ensure the effective use of human resources to achieve strategic objectives.

Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To

  • Implement HR strategic directions from the Regional/Group level and formulate corresponding implementation plans/strategies for the ANZ business;
  • Deliver HR solutions which optimise the value of Swiss Re employees and managers;
  • Advise and coordinate with line management to resolve day-to-day human resources related matters across performance management, employee relations, staffing, compensation etc. acting as a bridge between employees and line management;
  • Proactively build talent to meet the growing needs of the ANZ business by partnering closely with line management in recruitment and selection;
  • Recommend and implement appropriate human resources programs, policies and procedures to support the local business operations;
  • Maintain market intelligence on compensation and benefits to ensure Swiss Re’s competitiveness in attracting and retaining quality people;
  • Keep close watch on development within the local employment market and across legislative changes to ensure full legal compliance in each location.

About The Team

Our HR function is state-of-the art and in a changing world continuously evolving. Due to the unique position of Swiss Re in the re/insurance industry we can deploy impactful people solutions, leading the way of human capital changes in the industry.

The HR Partner plays a crucial role in the small ANZ HR team which also comprises, Head HR Australia & New Zealand, HR Administration Associates and HR Advisor (payroll) and which provides end to end HR support to the Australian business.

About You

You will have the knowledge and understanding of HR in a professional services environment with extensive knowledge of HR management processes, philosophies and strategy.

  • Experience in the insurance/finance industry;
  • Knowledge of employment legislation in the Australia and New Zealand;
  • You are detail orientated, hands on and have a resourcefulness to work in a complex matrix organisation and appreciation of cross-functional cooperation;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Extensive HR technical and performance management experience;
  • Proven track record in organisational change and restructures as well as implementing innovative HR initiatives;
  • Consistent track record in managing multiple projects and delivering quality results.

  • Strong coaching and counselling skills;
  • Influencing skills and the ability to persuade others without creating conflict;
  • Proficient in interviewing (behavioural based techniques), training and remuneration systems;
  • Negotiation skills with the ability to achieve a win/win;
  • Driven to succeed and deliver results;
  • Ability to establish rapport with and strong ongoing relationships.
