About You

We are looking for a dynamic professional to join our Operations Risk Management (ORM) Practice, in Australia (Perth or Sydney) as a Consultant. You will deliver work on client engagements to develop safety leadership and culture, reduce operational risks and enhance systems for safety and risk management.

Ideally you will have 3+ years of experience working in operations or consulting to operations. You will have an interest in managing risks and enhancing safety performance. You will be keen to learn how systems, capabilities and culture work together to enhance performance.

You will leverage your excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work well with a team to deliver outcomes. Importantly, you will uphold and champion DSS core values, and embrace our mindsets of Focus on Outcomes, ‘We before I’ and Entrepreneurial Spirit.

Key Accountabilities

Consulting project delivery

This will be your primary focus. You will work on projects that develop leaders, change safety culture and enhance risk management.

  • You will manage projects or workstreams on large engagements, including coordinating the work of team members, managing delivery to cost, quality and financial requirements.
  • You will support delivery of training and coaching programmes. You will learn how to deliver safety culture training workshops and safety leadership coaching programmes.
  • You will gather and analyze risk and safety information, formulate and test hypotheses, and present results to clients in collaboration with client team members.
  • You will utilise DSS digital tools (e.g. DSS TransformTM and MIRATM) to support our work and deliver insights to clients

Support business development
  • This involves supporting the Managers and Principals by developing marketing materials and proposals.

Interpersonal Skills
  • Be an inspiring contributor and motivated team member on projects, working collaboratively with project team members and upholding DSS core values. Contribute to our pursuit of a diverse and inclusive workplace.

Job requirements

Knowledge, Educational Qualification, Skills And Experience
  • 3+ years of relevant industrial or consulting experience, in operational, risk management or safety/process roles.
  • Industrial sector experience – Food & Beverage, Manufacturing, Mining or Oil &Gas preferred
  • Skilled in analytical problem solving, well developed Excel skills
  • Skilled in communication and using data to narrate a compelling story on PowerPoint; Ability with other visualization tools such as Tableau and PowerBI a plus
  • Availability to travel up to 50 % of time
  • Bachelors’ degree in Engineering, Sciences or Business related fields. MBA or Masters will be a plus
