Within our Employee Relations and People Operations team, we have a unique opportunity for a principal employee relations legal adviser in our fast paced, large scale people business, during a time of growth and transformation.


Responsibilities will include:


  • Managing a range of employee dispute matters, including unfair dismissal, general protections, bullying, post-employment restraints, sham contracting, discrimination and breach of contract;
  • Acting for the Group (including advocacy) in the Fair Work Commission;
  • Providing lead support on the employment law related aspects of mergers and acquisitions;
  • Enterprise bargaining negotiations (and related FWC applications and approvals) and industrial disputes;
  • Award interpretation and compliance;
  • Employment investigations and whistleblowing matters;
  • Executive employment matters;
  • Restructure initiatives;
  • Reviewing and drafting ER policies and templates;
  • Supporting Group projects (including ER initiatives) and regulatory matters; and
  • Advising on a range of people management matters escalated from the Group’s various HR teams and supporting the Group’s HR teams, including training and upskilling initiatives.


Suitable candidates should possess the following skills and experience: 



  • Hold a Bachelor of Laws or Juris Doctor and an Australian practicing certificate with 6+ years PAE.
  • Prior experience working in the employment law team of a large law firm or in-house at a large corporation, with a strong knowledge of both Federal and State employment laws.
  • Subject matter expert and trusted advisor on a wide range of employee/industrial relations areas.
  • Ability to work autonomously on a wide range of matters.
  • Strong collaboration skills and an ability to work with and build a relationship with a wide range of stakeholders, including senior managers and executives.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills.
  • A practical and commercial mindset, with an ability to explain complex concepts in a simple manner.
