Job Description

An opportunity to take the lead in an HR role within a global professional practice and partner with the business in delivering the HR service aligned to business strategy. This role requires a strong generalist with a hands-on approach, extensive experience of the full employee life cycle and Australian employment law and best practices. This is a great opportunity for a candidate with a passion for HR and proven abilities in driving a high-performance culture.

Role and responsibilities

  • Advising partners, managers and employees on HR and IR best practice, building effective relationships and becoming a trusted advisor
  • Responsible for the day-to-day management of operational HR and IR issues, including but not limited to joiner inductions, performance reviews, welfare meetings and exit interviews, continuously seeking ways to improve the efficiency of HR processes and the employee experience
  • Supporting partners and managers by providing practical guidance and coaching in implementing best practice people management, including but not limited to change management, grievances, performance and conduct issues
  • Management of recruitment process, driving talent acquisition strategies and promoting employer branding
  • In conjunction with HR Committee, continually review and revise recruitment practices to ensure they are robust, identify appropriate candidate pools, cost effective and are implemented in a non-discriminatory way
  • Ensure the learning and development program sufficiently provides the required knowledge and skills to grow our talent by assessing the current provision and making recommendations for improvement
  • Generation of monthly reports to the partner group and compliance reporting as required
  • Budget management including forecasting and ensuring costs are sufficiently recorded and budgets maintained
  • Manage, in conjunction with people leaders, the delivery of annual processes including promotions and remuneration review.
  • Providing training and support to people managers, including-
    • Upskilling appraising managers on how to conduct meaningful appraisals (delivering systems and skills training sessions where required);
    • Facilitating moderation meetings with partners in order to calibrate performance ratings
    • Collaborate with people managers to facilitate the development performance measures, including the development of stretch performance objectives, which are clearly articulated in a development plan and where applicable training needs are documented and implemented
  • Collaborating with people leaders to identify organisational structure or culture which are inhibiting teams to achieve their strategic goals and future plans and recommend changes where appropriate
  • Management of all Workplace Health & Safety duties to ensure compliance with all legislative requirements.
  • Liaising with Melbourne and Sydney HR colleagues to support national people initiatives and projects
  • Liaising with global HR teams to ensure group initiatives are brought to the attention of the partners.

, Experience, And Qualifications
  • AHRI qualified or equivalent experience (essential)
  • Demonstrated experience operating within a professional service environment, preferably Accounting.
  • Experience gained in a generalist HR role
  • Commercially aware and capable of providing HR support to a complex and challenging client group
  • Experience administering benefits and compensations programs
  • Knowledge of complex HR principles and practices
  • Knowledge of WH&S requirements.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to assess the risks before decision making
  • Strong time management skills
  • Ability to manage confidential information
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to consult with peers and partners and negotiate with internal clients
