The Role

The Work Health Safety Officer provides highly specialised, targeted, professional advice and support for Occupational Health, Safety and Wellbeing required by a complex Defence Acquisition program.

This includes:

  • Work Health Safety assurance and performance information to support the due diligence obligations of the Director General Future Submarine Program;
  • Comply with safety legislation through conformance with CASsafe, our work health and safety management system;
  • Report on key performance indicators, provide timely and relevant information to managers and Future Submarine Program (FSP) executives, enabling the active management of safety issues by all FSP directorates;
  • Provide access to training and development opportunities to Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group personnel, ensuring safety professionalisation is maintained;
  • Identify, document and control workplace safety risks so far as reasonably practicable;
  • Continue to support the health and wellbeing of our people through the mental health and wellbeing program; and
  • Enable a consistent approach to safety process and leadership across the program.

The Australian Government is laying the foundations for a nationwide naval shipbuilding enterprise to support the implementation of the Naval Shipbuilding Plan. The Plan outlines the Australian Government’s vision for the Australian naval shipbuilding enterprise and the significant investment required in coming decades. Submarines are a unique Defence capability and play an essential role in supporting Australia's maritime security, and your work within the program, by engaging with Navy and Industry suppliers will ensure that Navy has an enduring and potent Submarine capability.

  • Continuous improvement philosophy an ability to implement Work Health Safety quality management; and
