    ABOUT US

    Known for our range of stylish, contemporary lounges and dining settings, Nick Scali Furniture has over 60 showrooms across Australia and New Zealand and is a market leader in furniture retailing having been around for over 50 years. The HR Team supports employees and managers in our Showrooms and Distribution Centres across Australia and New Zealand and Head Office at North Ryde. Although the Company is publicly listed, it still has a family-run feel where employees are valued and rewarded for their hard work.

    ABOUT THE ROLE

    Reporting to the HR Manager, the Human Resources Advisor plays a key role in developing strong working relations at all levels across the company with the benefit of a flat management structure. The role provides advice and support through the development and implementation of workflows that ensure people are onboarded, trained and developed in a timely and effective manner to maximise productivity within their role. The HR Advisor will also be involved in the implementation and refinement of Workplace Health and Safety programs, learning and development initiatives, assisting in HR policy development and handling employment relations matters. This is an excellent opportunity for an all rounded HR generalist who is highly organised and efficient, practical and hands on with a continuous improvement mindset. There is a number of key projects and initiatives currently being rolled out across the Company which this role would play a key part in implementing and ensuring success.

    ABOUT YOUR EXPERIENCE

      • Experience working within a corporate office, providing advice and support remotely across geographically dispersed locations
      • Enjoy working as part of a small HR team alongside HR Admin, payroll and recruitment professionals
      • Detailed and methodical in your approach to work and are meticulous in delivering high quality results within a fast-paced environment
      • Resilient in dealing with people matters and bring a depth of maturity, and experience in resolving issues in a practical and timely manner
      • An open mind and able to maintain the highest standards of confidentiality and build trust
      • Exposure to change management initiatives e.g. implementing new HR systems and programs
      • Sound knowledge of working within a rapidly changing employment/ industrial relations environment within the retail landscape
      • Exposure to handling workplace investigations and employment related grievances including disciplinary processes

    ABOUT WHAT YOU’LL POSSESS

      • Human Resources/ Business related Degree or equivalent qualification
      • Immediate start/ minimal notice period preferred
      • Minimum 1-2 years’ experience in an HR Advisor role or ready to step up from an HR Officer role
      • HR experience in the retail/ warehousing industry preferred, although not essential
      • A basic understanding, and ideally previous experience working with a variety of modern Awards (Retail, Clerks Private Sector and Storage Services)
      • Experience working with New Zealand employment legislation is advantageous, but not essential
      • Exposure to HR systems including any of the following would be highly regarded: HR3, TimeTarget, iAuditor and SAP Litmos online learning platform
      • Experience in designing and developing online learning content as well as delivering training courses would be highly regarded
      • Exceptional ability to communicate with people at all levels of the Company
      • Excellent conflict resolution, problem solving and negotiation skills with a commercial mindset
